How to make the most of your time visiting an exhibition

Is it your first time at an exhibition event? Have you visited one before? It’s good to be prepared before you visit, to get the best out of your time there.

Know what you want to achieve

Make sure you have a plan in place. Are you looking for a particular company? A specific product? Do you want to buy a service at the show – or just gain more info, and learn about prices? It’s good to have a plan of realistic outcomes before you go.

Have an agenda

If you have done your research beforehand, and know which exhibitors you want to speak to, you can plan your time effectively well in advance. Why not divide that time into two sections – must see and would like to see. Then you can target those that you really want to see, and if you have time, you can see others and perhaps arrange a meeting for next time.

Make time for live lessons at the show

Look out for any live sessions that may be advertising demonstrations or talks by guest speakers. (We have live seminars at our financeSHOWCASE events!) There may be a talk that is really relevant to your area of business, held by an industry expert that will give you loads of takeaways and information.

Meet up with other visitors

If you know of any others who are attending the same show as you, why not arrange to meet at some point during the day to talk about your experiences and some of the takeaways you have gained from the seminars? This enables you to all share information, and gain some that you might have missed – so that you can make future experiences even more smooth and more successful.

Make contact with exhibitors and contacts after the show

After the event, make contact with the suppliers and exhibitors that were of interest to you, and ask them any questions or queries that you may have. They will be keen to follow up with you if you are interested in their products and services, so ask them any questions you may have.
