How to exhibit – and well

Here at SHOWCASE Towers, we’ve been running events for over 30 years. We see some really impressive exhibitors at our event, with bright effective stands, engaging staff that attract visitors and therefore always seem busy. And that makes them successful. But – they have tons of experience, and have probably learned from their mistakes along the way.

So just how do you exhibit well

Here are a few tips:

Prepare, prepare, prepare

It’s all in the planning. The more you know in advance, the better. If the venue is the same, with the same organiser, then great. No surprises there. You know where you’re going, what the space looks like and where to set up. If you haven’t visited the venue before and you can get access before the day of the event, take that opportunity to see what the space looks like, the layout of the room, etc. Always plan in timings, taking into account if you’re held up on the day, and make sure you’re prepared for equipment malfunctioning.

Make sure to get involved

It might sound obvious, but it’s an in-person event, so be engaging and make sure to connect with your audience. Big smiles are good for those who are a bit nervous to approach the stand. Promotional merchandise is a good icebreaker and a great incentive for them to come over and speak to you about your business. And what can be really inviting for those walking round an event all day? An inviting comfortable chair – greet them, sit them down and make conversation.

What’s your goal?

What’s your reason for exhibiting? Do you have a plan after the event? What would you like to do with your leads to convert them? Are you at the event to generate brand awareness, do you want visitors to sign up to something there and then, or can they do this after the event? You may have a specific product or service that you would like to promote at the event – or to invite visitors to try it out at another time completely. Whatever your goals and reasons for exhibiting, establish this and have a clear-cut plan for all employees at the event, and after. Decide what success looks like to you!
